First Look ~ Mystic ~ Lookbook & FILM

MalaOct-16

In late May 2017, my wildest dreams came true. John Le, the man I’ve been in love with for over a decade proposed {with a Moonstone ring} and I said yes, with joy and love in my heart. As soon as I could digest the happiness of a new engagement I was thrown into the whirlwind of losing two family members back to back, within weeks of each other. I flew out west, not even a week after our proposal and spent two weeks with my family grieving while John ran the chaos that was Malabella, in the beginning of our crazy MB tour and festival season. When I arrived home, everything felt like a whirlwind, my emotions, our schedule, our house, and our precious Malabella. I literally had no choice but to let go and flow. I let John run the business, I let my friends carry and hold me while I grieved, and I let the small shit, just be what it was.

I’ve only recently been able to process this crazy time in my life and finally ground back into myself but I’ve carried with me this essence of letting go ~ flowing. To me connecting to this feeling of flow feels like a divine connection. A connection to myself. A connection to my lost family members, and a connection to the reality of life. It’s precious. It’s beautiful. It’s mystical and otherworldly.

This time in my life felt like a deep awakening. A realization. A connection. And reminded me of a strong pulsing river and therefore Mystic was emotionally and aesthetically inspired by the fast-paced rivers that run fast and wild, throwing everything in its path into a deep chaos, and the only way to survive is to just flow.
