NOURISH: Quick & Easy Green Juice Recipe

All my favorite things are green.
 

Whether I’ve just stepped off the mat after a fiery session of vinyasa flows, I’m groggily searching for something to go with my morning coffee, or I’m zooming by the kitchen for a quick bite, this green juice is the nourishing quick fix and my number one go-to. Its ample serving of veggies keeps me satiated, while sweet apple paired with spicy ginger gives it the yummy zing every good juice needs. Best part: I can toss it into a tumbler and sip as I go! No slowing down needed (unless of course slowing down is just what the guru ordered).

Ingredients Breakdown 
Leafy Greens
Spinach and kale are the powerhouse of this beverage. Both of these tasty veggies are packed with the vitamins and minerals our bodies need to thrive, like manganese, iron, and vitamins K & A. Spinach has the added bonus of being an excellent source of protein, which is key to keeping us full and focused. Kale brings home the detox factor, supporting the critical systems our bodies use to rid us of impurities.

Cucumber
While this veggie may not get a lot of attention for its health benefits, Cucumber is a seriously underrated player in the clean-eating game. It contains many of the same vitamins as most leafy greens, including vitamin K and molybdenum (a wall flower in the vitamins world that helps our enzyme production). And, cucumbers are 96% water, which makes it an excellent alternative for staying hydrated.

Apple
Ever heard the saying, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away”? Apples are the crown jewel of delicious and nutritious fruits. They’re a good source of fiber, they help us regulate our blood sugar by preventing serious spikes and dips, and their delightful flavor makes it easy to choose apples as a healthy snack.
  

Ginger
If your tummy is feeling gooey, look no further than Ginger root. It’s an awesome natural solution for eliminating gas and soothing the intestinal tract, and it can even help pregnant women experiencing morning sickness. Ginger is a favorite among Asian cultures for detoxing during cold and flu season, not to mention its diverse uses in cooking and home herbal remedies.

Ingredients
3 big handfuls of spinach or kale (approximately 3 cups)
1 large cucumber
1 large apple
1 knob of ginger (if you like don’t like a lot of spice, use half a knob)

Juice all ingredients. Serve over ice and enjoy!
