At Malabella our muses are our source of inspiration, a wellspring for us to create a collection that represents and carries the stories and intentions we infuse into the jewels. Often times we wait to finalize designs until we’ve found our perfect muse and add pieces and edits that we believe our muse would wear during her travels and as a source of growth, meaning, and purpose.
Sheri was the perfect Muse to bring Embody to life – a collection that represents the parts of oneself that each of us had to embody to get through 2020. Sheri moved and worked with grace; she brought a light, sweet air to the shoot and she took her own videos during the process to help educate other models! She spoke with words of intentional inspiration: “2020 has brought us back to our foundation and really made us find and realize each of our purposes and what really makes us happy.” Meet our Muse, Sheri Thorn…
Malabella: What do you love to do for fun?
Sheri: Hanging out with friends & family, recording and editing videos, helping others and modeling.
M: What’s your sun sign?
S: I think I am a Taurus.
M: What are your favorite forms of expression?
S: I do not do it often but writing rap lyrics and creating skits & videos.
M: What inspired you to become a model?
S: When I was a kid my mom said I was very theatrical. But when I got older I was very shy and quiet. Modeling was the one thing I wasn’t scared to do and I really loved it. It helped me become more confident so I got into it more because it made me feel good about myself.
M: What is your favorite kind of modeling to take part in?
S: I love runway modeling because it’s a production. I love the makeup, clothes and just putting on a show for everyone.
M: What’s a daily ritual you practice?
S: Everyday I try to start the day with prayer and time with God. It helps keep me calm and start my day right.
M: What is your favorite mantra or intention?
S: If you tell me “No” I will find another way. No one can stop me once my mind is made up.
M: Where are you originally from and where have you lived/traveled to? Which place is your favorite?
S: I am from the DC area. My favorite place I lived is London.
M: You’re a highly skilled aero-space engineer. How is engineering similar to modeling? Are there aspects you take from your full-time job and incorporate into modeling?
S: They both require good networking skills and to take time to learn your craft. Aspects from my full-time job and modeling that are interchangeable are having confidence? To be a model you just have to be confident in general and being a woman in a male-dominated field you have to also be confident and sure of yourself in order to be successful.
M: If there’s one thing you could go back and tell yourself at age 20, what would it be?
S: I would tell myself to not waste time trying to please people. And to be confident in myself and to know that I can do anything.
M: What’s your favorite piece from Embody and why?
S: My favorite piece is the Golden Days Gold Necklace Set because I love gold and it looks good on my skin.
M: Sunrise or Sunset?
S: Sunrise because I am grateful to be alive and have a new opportunity.
